Patient Care Coordinator Job Description

Job brief
We are looking for motivated unicorns to join our collaborative health care clinic! Sacred Vessel Natural Medicine is a developing non-profit that serves the healthcare needs of the LGBTQI2S Community in the form of primary care, trans health care, and sexual health and wellness.
We are looking for a Patient Care Coordinator to undertake receptionist and clerical duties at the desk of our main entrance. You will be the “face” of the company for all visitors and will be responsible for the first impression we make.
Compensation: Depending on experience, this position will be paid $13-$15 per hour
Availability Requirements: 10am to 6pm at least 2 days per week
The ideal candidate will:
Have experience in working in health care clinics
Believe in the importance of providing respectful and informed health care to the Trans/Queer community with a focus on intersectionality, body & sex positivity
Have a passion for social justice
Have a friendly and easy going personality while also being very perceptive and disciplined
Be able to deal with complaints and give accurate information
A kind and caring customer-oriented approach is essential. The goal is to make guests and visitors feel comfortable and valued while on our premises.
We are starting with part-time, around 15-20 hours per week, but the potential to pick up additional hours is available.
Responsibilities
Keep front desk and lobby area tidy and presentable with all necessary materials (pens, forms, paper, tea, glasses...etc.)
Greet and welcome all patients
Fiercely protect patient health information (names, date of birth, address...etc) by following HIPAA guidelines
Be aware of using proper patient pronouns and gender-neutral greetings/salutations
Answer patient questions to the best of your ability
Answer incoming calls and redirect them or keep messages
Make confirmation calls
Check patient insurance
Collaborate with doctors and case manager on patient care tasks
Keep updated patient records and files
Manage faxes, emails, voicemails and other messages from patients
Take up other duties as assigned (travel arrangements, schedules etc.)
Requirements
Believe in the importance of providing respectful and informed health care to the Trans/Queer community through a trauma-informed, intersectional, health-at-every-size and socio-economic lens.
Training and/or personal experience with gender-neutral and affirming language, as well as language that is inclusive of all intersections of identity.
Ability to efficiently multitask in a fast-paced environment
Proven experience as front desk representative, agent or relevant position
High level of professionalism in communication
Familiarity with office machines and software (e.g. microsoft office, fax, printer, etc.)
Proficient in the English language (oral and written)
Working knowledge of Google Suite
Strong communication and people skills
Strong organizational skills
Problem-solving skills
Customer service orientation
High School diploma; additional qualifications will be a plus
